 Karl Poetzl was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but he grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana and Houston, Texas. After graduating from Stratford High School in Houston, Karl attended Beloit College where he met DBrowne. Says Mr. Poetzl, "I was having a hard time adjusting to college. I was homesick. But then DBrowne showed me how to play Frisbee golf and most importantly, he taught me that life is what you make of it. I could either be sad about what I had left behind or I could notice and enjoy all of what I had ahead of me." After graduating from Beloit in 1996 with degrees in mathematics and anthropology, Karl moved back to Houston where he taught math at Spring Forest Middle School. He has since returned to Beloit and works for the School District of Beloit and is an assistant coach of cross-country and track and field at Beloit College. Karl also plans to attend graduate school in the fall to pursue a master's degree in astronomy.
