Anna Boldon was born and raised in Portage, Wisconsin. She fondly remembers that being told to "go out and play" was usually a choice between having her sand toys hidden and pilfered by the mean neighborhood kids, or heading out around town on her little green bike for an afternoon. When she replaced her little green bike with a beautiful blue Huffy ten-speed, she would often hit the road and pedal herself to Wisconsin Dells (her mother would most likely have been mortified had she known).
By junior high, she discovered through trial and error (mostly error) that she was absolutely no good at any sports that involved balls, bats, baskets, nets or rackets. But she was pretty good at propelling herself forward by the power of her own two feet. Through high school, Anna ran on the cross country and track teams. She continued in both sports at UW-Eau Claire.
In 2000 she was fortunate enough to be asked to crew her good friend Erika Gerhardt in the Badwater Ultramarathon (a 135-mile footrace in Death Valley in July). After being exposed to the world of ultra-endurance sports, her entire outlook on what is possible changed. Since then, Anna has run a number of marathons, completed Ironman Wisconsin, rode all 900 miles of the 2006 David Browne Ride, and has since learned to love the bike more than her running shoes.
In her second year as a Team 242 rider, Anna is proud to be honoring the life of Dave Browne, and she's looking forward to spending a week riding her bike with a truly fantastic group of people.
